Layers Project: Inspired by Research Trip to Chinatown
An eight week project focusing on experimentation was inspired by a research trip to Chinatown.
I asked teachers in the Art Department across the Fine Art and Photography disciplines to each write a weeks workshop relating the theme of 'Layers'. We focused on our strengths to create workshops on contextual understanding, mixed media, painting, printmaking, photography/ digital manipulation.
These were shared and taught amongst colleagues with successful results. Students gained the benefit of exciting workshops in many areas of expertise and teachers subject knowledge was improved.
The popular results were displayed in a collaborative installation in the High School Show 2013.
The rich and diverse images proved so popular that we photographed them to turn into postcards to sell. The results will go towards the schools Global Concerns Charity.
